Kanye West Performs During Gil Scott-Heron's Memorial Service

Kanye West paid his respects to the late “Godfather of Rap” Gil Scott-Heron by performing at his memorial service. Yeezy gave a rendition of his track “Lost in the World,” which samples Scott-Heron’s fiery vocals from his track “Who Will Survive in America?”

According to NYDN, the Chicago, Illinois rapper dressed in black and wore sunglasses during the memorial, which took place at Riverside Church in Harlem, New York. After the ceremony, we was spotted hugging Scott-Heron’s family members.

Additionally, Scott-Heron’s daughter Gia performed Bette Midler’s “The Rose” and read an original poem. His first wife Brenda Sykes spoke during the service, and the Gil Scott-Heron Band played his track “Better Days Ahead.”

T-Pain Vows To Never Use Auto-Tune Again, Announces 'The T-Pain Effect'

When Jay-Z declared the "Death of Auto-Tune" in the summer of 2009, with the Blueprint 3 single "D.O.A.," the hip-hop star may have jumped the gun. Afterall, at the time, artists like Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and of course, T-Pain, were using the popular vocal effect with much success.

In 2011, its popularity has died down quite a bit. Pain, who helped bring its popularity back to the mainstream, recently vowed to ditch Auto-Tune.

Instead, he is opting to use, exclusive, his own new, vocal processor.

"I vow right here, right now, to never use Auto-Tune again," T-Pain told AllHipHop.com in an exclusive statement. "I'm onto something that I think is bigger and better called 'The T-Pain Effect.' "

According to AHH, the Florida singer/rapper has partnered with a company called Izotope, an audio technology company who will become the exclusive provider of the new "T-Pain Effect."

Auto-Tune was originally created by Antares Audio Technologies, and made its debut in the pop world in 1998 on Cher's hit single "Believe." Since then, everyone from Snoop Dogg and Janet Jackson to Weezy and Chris Brown have utilized the effect, which has become T-Pain's trademark.

T-Pain and Izotope are set to unveil the new technology on during the annual E3 gaming convention in Los Angeles next week, at the NOX booth.

Beanie Sigel apologizes to Jay Z

Its been more than a year-and-a-half since Beanie Sigel went on a verbal tirade against former boss and labelmate Jay-Z, in which he even teamed up with 50 Cent and was on the verge of signing with G-Unit Records.

However, since then, the Philly rapper has had some time to reflect on his actions ... and is apologizing.

In a recent interview with XXLmag.com, Sigel admitted that Jay-Z helped him reach the status he attained in the early 2000s, and that alone, outweighs any wrong the hip-hop mogul has done to him since.

"What Mike Epps say? 'Gangstas f*** up too,'" Sigel said. "Whatever I felt this dude Jay did wrong to me, it can't outweigh the one thing he did do for me -- he gave me an opportunity. Dude gave me an opportunity. A lot of people don't get opportunities. He gave me that. That outweighs everything. I need that in black and white. I got caught in the moment and put my feelings out there. I should have never done that."

Beans dissed Jay and many of his former Roc-A-Fella cohorts back in 2009, via a track dubbed "I Ain't Your Average Cat)", and followed by throwing shots in several interviews thereafter.

It went so far, the rapper even recorded an album's worth of material bashing the Roc, but has decided to hold back.

"I was explaining the whole Roc-A-Fella sh** and a lot of feelings were going to get hurt," he explained. "I was airing shit out. Just the homies could listen to that when they come into the studio. I couldn't put that out. It wouldn't sit right with me."

Instead, Sigel is now working on a new mixtape with Green Lantern, which should drop in the coming months.
